Our 2013 Spring Gospel Meeting is in the books, and I hope that each of us found the lessons uplifting and edifying as we prepare to resume our “normal” services as a congregation. I also hope that we were challenged to truly go out into the world and “preach Jesus” as Phillip did in Acts 8. Our speakers did an excellent job communicating their messages, so now it is up to us to respond to them with action! Our lesson this morning will both put a bow on the week that was and begin again a period of revival that will hopefully challenge us to be enthusiastic in our spiritual
lives. (If you would like to receive copies of the lessons from last week, or any lesson moving forward, they will be available on our web site,
broadstreetchurch.com. Copies can also be made on CD if you prefer.)

I want to thank all of those who played a role in the success of our Gospel Meeting for their effort and dedication to the cause of Christ and to our church family here at Broad Street. To all of those who led in the worship services, cooked food for potluck, donated items and/or helped serve ice cream during youth night, kept the building clean, passed out bulletins and flyers, greeted visitors, and most importantly, regularly attended during the meeting – THANK YOU!

On Sunday morning and Monday evening we had over 100 in attendance!The thing that is most intriguing about these figures is that on Sunday morning very few of that number were true visitors. We have so many people associated with our church family that are not as involved as they should be, and it is our job to reach out to those people all year, not just during a Gospel Meeting!

The lesson on Wednesday evening was fitting for us as it focused on reaching out to “the one.” Sometimes we feel like there is so much to do – and there is! However, if each of us can focus on reaching ONE person we will make a huge impact on our congregation and the entire Phenix City/Columbus community. The challenge has been laid out for us to be revived, evangelize, stay spiritually strong, and lay hold of the eternal life God has promised to his children!

Backwoods Christian Camp

BCC is almost here, but there is still time to sign up. The week runs from June 2 – 7. We will have a meeting with all that are planning to go today following the afternoon service!

Gospel Meeting

The Cusseta Road congregation will host a meeting beginning Wednesday night with guest speaker David Kimmons from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
They will meet Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7:00 PM and Sunday during their regular service times.

Softball

Singing Group

Our singing group will meet next Sunday immediately following our afternoon service. We will lean a few new songs and then travel to Canterbury nursing home to sing for the residents there. Thank you to all who participate and contribute to the effort of this group!
